In January, I performed an original Cabaret at Winter Park Playhouse in Orlando, FL with one of my Best Friends. We called it "Better Together"...because, duh!
I have to say creatively it was one of the best experiences EVER. Being able to create your own show and pull songs you have dreamed of singing was so much fun. This was a Duo Cabaret, so we stuck to only one solo each and really had a ball singing harmonies together! When picking songs, we knew right away we HAD to sing Carole King's - "Where You Lead" and later added "You've Got A Friend" by Carole as well. What? We can't help that she wrote some killer tunes and our voices sound amazing singing them.
Our set list was pretty marvelous, if I do say so myself. I was more nervous about the talking in between each number. I don't know why, but the idea of being myself on stage is terrifying. I'm so used to being someone else and having all the words printed in front of me to say, I guess I just get nervous no one will think I'm funny or like what I'm saying and leave? Who knows! An actor's overthinking mind is a very dangerous thing. It was very comforting to have Kate there with me as we talked about our friendship and basically bragged about each other the majority of the show! And guess what? People think we are hilarious! Score!
I truly had the time of my life. (aw, man that could have been in the show!) It was a pleasure to perform on stage with one of my best friends & who knows maybe we can make a comeback next year!
The Sky's the Limit!
