I'm sure at this point you are aware I'm playing Miss Dorothy in Thoroughly Modern Millie. BUT....did you know this will be my first classical role in almost 4 years?! I'm so thankful for all the whacky characters I've brought to life in those 4 years. I wouldn't change it for the world. I learned so much from each one...as well as belted my face off & became an alto. lol
However, I'm so happy to be back in my classical roots.
I was a music major in college and studied opera, so getting the chance to use that training is very exciting. Both my college voice teacher & my current voice teacher are overjoyed that the world shall finally hear what they do.
I've played classical characters, don't get me wrong...I've just been cozy in my little character bubble for a while. I played Cosette in Les Miserables...and Lily in The Secret Garden...but professionally that's about all the classical chances I've gotten...so fingers crossed that Miss Dorothy is my springboard back into the classical world and they welcome me with open arms.
* cue a picture of me being more wistful than goofy*
of course...character work has been my bread & butter, so obviously I'm not cutting them off completely in these dreams of mine!
